UCLA Football News: College Football Expert Assesses Public Opinion on Chip Kelly
Your UCLA Bruins will go into their final season in the Pac-12 with head coach Chip Kelly at the helm. He will enter his sixth season as head coach, and although he hasn't lived up to expectations, he's gotten better year by year.
Kelly is one of the most experienced and well-respected coaches in the sport, but he hasn't been what he was during his time at Oregon. Still, he is trying to get back to that as the Bruins' main guy, and this season would be good as any to get the ball rolling into the Big 10 Conference.
The 59-year-old coach isn't what he was a decade ago, but College Football expert Josh Pate believes that he still holds the same respect from his peers.
"People still look at Chip Kelly as a phenomenal play caller. There's not a person out there that questions him as an offensive mind. Even today, people say the game has passed him by. Really? Well, that scoreboard is not aware of that. I saw him in person twice last year; he's fine, they're fine."

The offense has gotten better year by year during his time in Los Angeles. In his first season, the Bruins put up 24.6 points per game, which was ranked 98th in the FBS rank, and last season, they were ranked 8th in FBS with 39.2 points per game. The Bruins have climbed high and higher in that category each season, and it's all thanks to Kelly.
Kelly will look to continue his offensive dominance, but the real challenge will be on defense. Nonetheless, it looks like Kelly is fine and will continue to put up points for UCLA.
