UCLA Football: Watch Bruins Players Absolutely Lose it When DeShaun Foster Is Announced as HC
To say that UCLA football players are excited to have DeShaun Foster as their new head coach would be an understatement.
After former head coach Chip Kelly left to become the offensive coordinator of Ohio State, the Bruins wasted no time finding their next coach.
UCLA athletic director Martin Jarmond announced the hiring of Foster to the squad, just days after Kelly left.
"We want somebody that wants to be a Bruin," Jarmond said in his introduction of Foster. "Well, we didn't get somebody that wants to be a Bruin. We got a Bruin."
As Foster came out, the team erupted in cheers, hugs, and claps for their new coach. Several players began jumping up and down, as the entire team expressed tons of excitement for Foster in an epic video captured by UCLA football.
Foster was previously a UCLA Hall of Fame running back for the Bruins from 1998-2001 when he compiled 3,049 rushing yards and 43 total touchdowns for UCLA. He had two 1,000-yard, 10+ touchdown seasons with UCLA, and even had a 300-yard rushing game while wearing blue and gold.
Following his collegiate playing career, Foster spent seven years in the NFL, playing for both the Carolina Panthers and the San Francisco 49ers.
Foster then returned to the Bruins where he worked his way from being a student assistant to a graduate assistant and ultimately the Bruins running backs coach from 2017-2023. Foster had just received the opportunity to become an NFL running backs coach with the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason but will stick with UCLA as he becomes their head coach.
It clearly looks like Foster has already won the approval of his players, and will now work to help the team achieve on the field.
