Dante Moore making his first official start for the UCLA Bruins on Saturday led to a. number of positives and in the end, they were able to remain undefeated to start off their year and come away with a 35-10 victory over San Diego State University Aztecs.

This was a bit of a personal match for UCLA seeing that before this most recent win, they held a 21-1 record against SDSU and the last time both schools met (2019) the Aztecs captured their only victory over the Bruins.

With three touchdowns and a total of 290 yards thrown, Moore completed his mission to prove to the football world and his coaching staff that he can indeed thrive as the starting quarterback.

However, the Bruins also have other excellent quarterback options in Collin Schlee and Ethan Garbers. Head coach Chip Kelly is not making any promises when it comes to keeping Moore as the QB1 due to their depth at the position.

"Asked what would be an argument for not starting Moore going forward, Kelly said, “Because I thought Collin did some really good things and I think Ethan Garbers is a really good quarterback and I think all three of those guys can help us win football games.”

Kelly did love what he saw from Moore on the field nonetheless and referred to him as special and someone that is learning all the time.

“He’s special, he’s a special player and to be as advanced as he is at his age is unique,” Kelly said. “He’s growing and he’ll grow from this game and I think he’ll be the first to tell you that.”

We'll have to trust Kelly's vision here and hope that everybody is utilized to the best of their abilities.
