UCLA Football: WR Unpacks First In-Game Minutes As A Bruin
Your UCLA Bruins' resounding 27-13 victory over the visiting Coastal Carolina Chanticleers was a major moment, not just for the team as a whole but for one young transfer in particular.
6'1" UCLA wide receiver Ryan Cragun, who arrived in Westwood last year from the University of Pennsylvania, logged his first in-game minutes as a Bruin during the win. The Orange County native spoke with gathered opportunities about how his development in the offseason has helped pay dividends on the field, per David Woods of Bruin Report Online (247Sports).
"Going through spring ball and fall camp, I kind of started to get a little more comfortable, getting more reps in practice," Cragun explained. "But I was just ready for whatever. When it comes to a game anything can happen, you never know when your number's going to be called. Really I just tried to get with Coach Jerry as much as possible so I could be confident in what I was doing out there and I could go around playing full speed."
"The strength staff here has been really great," Cragun continued. "When I got in last year it was just a lot, adjusting. We've got a lot of really good athletes here and the playbook is a little more complicated than what I'm used to, coming from Penn. So I think as I've gotten more used to the speed, I think I've gotten a better grasp on the offense, things like that. Really just developing myself."
