This past Friday, the Charlotte Hornets have officially announced the signing of former UCLA Bruins guard Amari Bailey, whom they selected with the No. 41 pick this past June, to a two-way deal.

Although Bailey may not be the starriest rookie name to grace the hardwood for Charlotte this summer (that'd be former Alabama forward Brandon Miller, who when he's not giving his teammates guns to be used in murders is purportedly quite the basketball player), he's had a really encouraging early run with the team.

The 6'5" guard was a Pac-12 All-Freshman Teamer while with the Bruins, averaging 11.2 points on .495/.389/.698 shooting splits, 3.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.1 steals a night.

During the NCAA postseason, Bailey's output improved (always a good sign). He averaged 17.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists across six contests, including both the NCAA and Pac-12 Tournaments last spring.

Across five Summer League contests with the club, Bailey averaged 8.4 points on .405/.375/.833 shooting spits, 3.4 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game. He submitted his best contest yet in the Hornets' Summer League finale Friday, scoring 17 points on 7-of-14 shooting splits from the floor.

Interestingly, Bailey was the highest draft pick to agree to a two-way contract, rather than a standard 15-man roster agreement, with his team.
