UCLA Basketball: Bruins Big Ranked As Top 25 Prospect In New Aggregate Draft

6'10" UCLA Bruins sophomore power forward/center Adem Bona has been a bit all over the place on 2024 pre-draft boards (should he even declare for the draft, which is itself no guarantee). In a very helpful aggregation of some recent top mocks, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reveals that Bona has been listed as high as the No. 11 pick and as low as the top of the second round, No. 33.
"Adem Bona has an NBA-ready frame with the size, strength, and high motor to be a frontcourt player," Scotto writes. "Offensively, he’s mainly a dunker who overpowers defenders at this point with a developing mid-range game and struggles at the foul line (57.3 percent). Last season, Bona didn’t attempt a three. Defensively, Bona has the tools to be a strong defender as a shot blocker (1.7 per game) and a switchable defender on ball screens."
During his debut season with the Bruins, Bona was named to the Pac-12 All-Defense and All-Freshman Teams, as well as his conference's Rookie of the Year.
Across 33 contests as a freshman (32 starts), the Nigerian-Turkish big man averaged 7.7 points on 67.5 percent shooting from the floor, 5.3 rebounds, and the aforementioned 1.7 blocks, while proving to be a critical defensively-inclined starter on an eventual Sweet Sixteen club.
