UCLA Men's Basketball: Spooky Time Scheduled For Halloween Exhibition
Mick Cronin and the UCLA Bruins are aiming to have a special year in 2023-24.
After an exhaustive summer practice period -- which included an overseas trip to Spain -- the start of the regular season is right around the corner.
As reported by Bruin Report Online, UCLA's first (and only) exhibition game on its schedule will take place on Halloween evening. The tip-off time versus opponent Cal-State Dominguez Hills is slated for 6 p.m. PT.
Ultimately, we realistically won't take much from this game. The Bruins are superior from a talent and size standpoint. If anything, it'll be fascinating to see UCLA's bevy of highly-touted freshmen take the court.
There's a possibility you could see up to 3 true freshmen starting for the Bruins in some sort of permutation. Among those most likely fighting for starting spots include guards Jan Vide and Sebastian Mack, forward Berke Buyuktuncel, and center Aday Mara.
This contest will provide the fan base with an opportunity to see what for all intents and purposes will be a work in progress. Mick Cronin is breaking in eight new players on his roster. There will surely be some growing pains and proverbial bumps in the road. With that said, based on Cronin's penchant for development, this team should look a whole lot different in March.
Talent isn't a question, but the lack of collective experience is what could hinder this team earlier in the year. With that said, there's plenty of optimism.
Additionally, with the game time being at 6 p.m., it should still provide the Bruins faithful with enough time to enjoy Trick-or-Treating!
