UCLA Basketball: Bettors Could Earn Windfall If Jaime Jaquez Jr. Wins NBA Rookie Of The Year Award

Jaime Jaquez Jr. finds himself in one of the most interesting situations as a rookie right now and it's clear that he's the type of player to go 100% no matter where he's suiting up and we've noticed that already. There were a ton of questions pertaining to whether or not his play style and lack of athleticism would translate well to the league but he's already come out of the gates hot.
Even though we've only seen him in summer league so far, he's taken charge as part of the Miami Heat's squad and in his first game against the Los Angeles Lakers in the California Classic, he dropped 22 points and made it a point to attack the rim at all costs. Seeing that he is 6'7 and already very polished after spending four seasons with the UCLA Bruins, he has faced a number of the top defenses already.
The Miami Heat are coming off of a Finals berth against the Denver Nuggets and now that Gabe Vincent left to join the Lakers and Miami could lose more guard depth if the Damian Lillard trade goes through, there could a nice role for Jaquez.
There are few players that Miami has turned down an opportunity for as long as they come ready to work. We've seen this with Victor Oladipo after he was coming off some serious injuries and also a number of un-drafted players. Therefore, it's not crazy to think that Jaquez could make an impact in his first season.
