UCLA Basketball: Bruins' Best Player Reflects On First Victory In Weeks
Your UCLA Bruins men's basketball program rejoined the winners' circle for the first time in multiple weeks last night, when the club took down the Oregon State Beavers on the road, 69-62.
The team's best player, 6'10" sophomore power forward Adem Bona, revealed that the club celebrated with appropriate fervor upon bagging its first W in weeks, per UCLA Communicatons.
“Yeah, we had to after the tough run we had," Bona said. "We tried to get our team to get our confidence up again and bring the energy. So that was a little relief.”
In 33 minutes, Bona scored 13 points (tied with guard Dylan Andrews for the most on the team) on 6-of-14 shooting from the floor and 1-of-2 shooting from the foul line, grabbed eight rebounds, blocked three shots, swiped three steals and dished out one assist.
“Yeah, it felt great," Bona continued, in speaking about the win. "I set a goal for the team today. We talked about it in the huddle. We felt really good today. After accomplishing some of our goals – reducing the fouls – felt really, really good. I know the team is excited with the step we made today.”
Five Bruins finished the game with double-digit scoring: starters Bona, Andrews and junior Lazar Stefanovic (10 points on 3-of-8 shooting from the field and 2-of-2 shooting from the foul line), plus reserve freshman guard Brandon Williams (11 points in 19 minutes) sophomore wing Will McClendon (10 points on 4-of-7 shooting, plus six rebounds, three assists and a steal).
