UCLA Basketball: Bruins Guard Opts For Cliches To Explain Stunning CSUN Loss
Last night, your UCLA Bruins' 29-game home winning streak (the longest such active run in the country) came to a shocking end against the Cal Stat Northridge Matadors in a 76-72 rock fight.
Starting guard Dylan Andrews couldn't provide much of a concrete response, instead hanging is hat on that tiredest of cliches: the other guys wanted it more (via UCLA Communications).
“Yeah, I mean we came out kind of flat in the beginning," Andrews said. "It just felt like CSUN – credit to them, but I feel like they just wanted it more than us this game. They have fire in their eyes. They shot the ball pretty good. We knew for a fact they were a drive and kick team and we were trying to play the gaps, but it just didn’t work out the way we wanted it to.” on experiencing a home loss for the first time in his career“Not great. Even in the past. Three years. Home games. We haven’t lost. It hurts. It brings fire into us.”
The Bruins (now 5-5 after this latest letdown) will have their next opportunity at redemption this Friday, when they face off against the Maryland Terrapins. What happens at that one is anyone's guess.
