UCLA basketball's roster for this coming season may be set, but that doesn't mean the Bruins are off the trail.

As it always is in college sports, setting up a good foundation for the future is just as important as the here and now, as that can be the difference between contending for years or being mired in mediocrity.

And the Bruins have piqued the interest of a top young prospect from the Lone Star State.

Jeremiah Green (Denton, TX) is a four-star point guard in the class of 2025 that's ranked as the No. 55 overall prospect in his class, per 247 Sports.

Notably, the Texas product has UCLA on his mind, as the Bruins are in his top five along with Texas, Houston, Kansas State, and Auburn.

Given the fact that Green is a high school sophomore, it could be a while until he makes a commitment, but if the Bruins were to get a pledge from the guard, they would be getting quite the offensive player.

The first thing that jumps out when looking at Green is his prowess from deep as he can definitely stretch the floor with the three ball.

UCLA has been lacking a consistent three-point threat for a while, but Green could be a solution to that problem if he makes his way to Westwood in the future.

Green's also active on the defensive end, a trait that certainly matches up well with Mick Cronin's Bruins.

Since Cronin replaced Steve Alford ahead of the 2019-2020 season, he instantly transformed the Bruins into one of the best defensive teams in the nation.

Defense has been -- and will likely continue to be -- a hallmark of Cronin-coached teams. And they might just get a pesky guard with touch from deep in Green in a couple of years.

It's early in the process, but it seems so far that the Bruins have made quite the impression.
