UCLA Basketball: Bruins Throw Hat Into Ring For Elite 2025 Prospect
After hosting one elite prospect on an official visit this past weekend, Mick Cronin and the UCLA Bruins are hoping to get involved with another big-time athlete.
On Monday evening, 2025 prospect Will Riley announced that he had received a scholarship offer from UCLA.
The willowy wing has been listed anywhere between 6'7" to 6'9" depending on the various recruiting sites. Originally from Canada, Riley currently plays at The Phelps School in Pennsylvania.
Riley has a very intriguing game. He's only scratching the surface of how good he can eventually be. With a slender frame, Riley should be able to put on another 15-20 pounds without losing much in the way of quickness or athleticism.
Stylistically, Riley can play both wing spots quite well. He's a good athlete off the bounce, can score in the midrange, and has range that extends beyond the three-point line.
Riley had a very strong showing at the Basketball Without Borders Global Camp in early February. So strong, in fact, that he was named as the MVP of the camp.
As it pertains to his recruitment, it's no surprise that a host of elite programs are pursuing Riley. Arizona is reportedly involved -- as is Villanova, Duke, Kentucky, and now UCLA.
While nothing is set in stone, it would be a surprise if Riley didn't visit the program on an official visit. With UCLA's basketball history -- coupled with its international pedigree and brand -- it stands to be an attractive place for recruits.
Plus, Cronin has sent multiple wings to the NBA over the last few years. Namely, Peyton Watson and Jaime Jaquez Jr. were first-round picks.
ESPN listed Riley as the No. 16 Overall pick in its recent 2025 NBA Mock Draft. 247Sports ranks Riley as the No. 23 player nationally in the class of 2025.
