Your 3-0 UCLA Bruins are set to square off against the 3-0 Marquette University Golden Eagles on Monday night at 8:30 p.m. PT, in Honolulu's Stan Sheriff Center. It'll be a nationally broadcast bout, between two storied programs, on ESPN2, as part of the Allstate Maui Invitational.
Hot off a 78-58 Wednesday blowout victory over Rod Strickland's Long Island University Sharks, sophomore starting power forward Adem Bona, the club's nominal best player and leader, offered up a sneak peak at this Friday matchup, per UCLA Communications.
“From what I know about Marquette, I know that they’re a really experienced team," Bona said. "They’ve got guys that have been playing there for four years now. We do respect them, and I think we’ve got a game plan, and Coach Cronin is definitely going to come up with a game plan. It’s also exciting to be playing Marquette on national TV so we are excited, and we are also going in ready to play.”
6'5" junior Golden Eagles guard Kam Jones is Marquette's leading scorer, averaging 19.3 points on a .526/.476/.727 slash line, 4.7 rebounds, three assists and two steals.
