UCLA Basketball: Bruins Vet Sheds Light On Team Meeting After Cal Loss

Mick Cronin skipped out on his press obligations to address the team.

Your spiraling UCLA Bruins find themselves in the midst of their second straight three-game losing streak. Following a 66-57 loss to the 5-10 California Golden Bears on Saturday, your 6-9 Bruins have now dropped seven of their past eight contests.

Though the young club (which boasts seven freshmen) sports the best defense in the Pac-12, that will only go so far when the Blue and Gold can't convert its takes on the other end of the hardwood.

Head coach Mick Cronin had apparently seen enough.

Following the game, he ditched his postgame press conference duties with attendant journalists for the first time since taking the UCLA gig, in favor of discussing the team's issues in-house.

According to Ben Bolch of The Los Angeles Times, fifth-year senior reserve center Kenneth Nwuba wanted to keep what happened behind closed doors internal.

“He gave us a talk, but I would just leave that as a locker room talk because it’s kind of private,” senior center Kenneth Nwuba said. “We’ve just got to keep playing. You know, sometimes in life bad things happen and you’ve just got to keep pushing through and you just can’t quit.”

In ten minutes of action, Nwuba didn't take a single shot, though he did notch one rebound and one dime.
