UCLA Basketball: Gabriela, Jaime Jaquez Team Up For Bruins Student Endowment Fund
UCLA Bruins basketball stars Gabriela and Jaime Jaquez Jr. have teamed up with the UCLA Latino Alumni Association and the UCLA Alumni Association for the Jaquez Family Scholarship Fund.
Jaime, who is now an up-and-coming NBA rookie swingman for the Miami Heat, and his sister Gabriela were present at a fundraising event a month ago on January 2. The fundraiser raised $35,000 for their scholarship.
The scholarship fund will be providing support to incoming freshman and transfer students at UCLA. The fund also continues the relationship between UCLA and two of their best basketball players in recent memory. For Gabriela and Jaime, this fund continues their legacy at UCLA, while helping to support future Bruins.
“The UCLA community is proud of the Jaquez family,” Jennifer Mora, vice president of the UCLA Latino Alumni Association, said, “and it shows when they support the family’s scholarship.”
Currently, Gabriela is a sophomore forward at UCA averaging 10.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game for the Bruins, who are ranked No. 9 in the country with a a 17-4 record.
During his career at UCLA, Jaime averaged 13.4 points, 6.3 assists and 2.0 assists per game through four seasons with the Bruins. Jaime also helped UCLA reach the Final Four, and was the Pac-12 Player of the Year in 2023. Now on the Heat, Jaime is averaging 13.1 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists in his rookie season.
