It would be hard for any team to rally after suffering four straight losses, but it appears that those losses have started to truly affect the UCLA Bruins. The Men of Westwood dropped another game in the final non-conference play, as they fell to Maryland 69-60.

Despite attempting to rally and come from a 20-point deficit, it was not enough for the team to get past Maryland.

Coach Mick Cronin has been critical about the toughness that the team must demonstrate to get these crucial wins, but at this point—he believes that they have lost all confidence.

“They’ve lost their confidence,” UCLA coach Mick Cronin told reporters of his players Friday night. “This is just my opinion, I’m not saying I’m right … but we’ve lost our confidence.”

The team has dropped to 5-6, and is below .500 for the first time since 2020. The good news is that winter break is here, and the team can make time to find ways to inspire one another to get over this hump.

Pac-12 play will start on December 28, as the Bruins will take on Oregon State. Whatever confidence these young men have lost should be found within that time. The team is talented enough to rally, but there is something getting in their way.

The hope is Coach Cronin can find a way to break through and inspire the young men to rebound this season.

Freshman Sebastian Mack led the way with 17 points, but players like Adem Bona only posting 8 will just not get the job done. Its time for the Bruins to get all their confidence back after the break.
