UCLA Basketball: NBA Scout Unpacks Adem Bona's Positives Heading into Year 2
Your UCLA Bruins lost a number of their most key contributors after the March Madness tournament ended early for them last year and the likes of Jaime Jaquez, Amari Bailey and Tyger Campbell all have joined NBA franchises. We've already seen Bailey and Jaquez make a big impact on their respective squads and it will be exciting to see Campbell do so as well with the Orlando Magic soon.
However, if it was not for the injury bug, we definitely would have seen Adem Bona making his summer league debut in these coming weeks after an excellent freshman year with the Bruins. Unlike Jaylen Clark who had already spent multiple years in college before his injury and believed it was time to go to the league, Bona wants to get fully healthy and continue developing within UCLA's system before he declares for the draft once again.
Standing at 6'10, he was able to suit up in 33 games for the Bruins last year and put forth averages of seven points, five rebounds and almost two blocks. His presence in the paint brings a ton of value to the group and he will easily gel with the incoming freshman in the 2023-2024 season.
And speaking of next season, NBA Draft Consultant Zach Milner highlighted multiple things to look forward to when he suits up for a second year for UCLA.
Pac-12 Returners Day 3:
Adem Bona
Bona had his ups and downs with production while dealing with injuries throughout his freshman season, but the flashes are very intriguing Incredible motor, runs the floor in transition, sets good screen, can catch lobs, and good rim protection
Bona brings a lot to the table and if he and Clark hadn't got hurt last season, the sky would have been the limit for them. Let's see how he bounces back in 2023!
