UCLA Basketball: Sebastian Mack Weirdly Apathetic About Career-High Scoring Night
UCLA Bruins freshman guard Sebastian Mack put on a show for fans in the opening game of the Maui Invitational, scoring 25 points in the team's loss to Marquette. He also added six rebounds and two assists in the 33 minutes he saw on the court.
It was a career-high for the young guard, but unfortunately, the Bruins couldn't get the win. They fell by a score of 71-69, but Mack showed he could be relied upon in big games.
“I was just trying to do whatever it takes to rally the troops up and do whatever it takes to win,” Mack said. “I’m just a competitor, so if the team needs me to score zero and get 25 assists, I’m with it.”

Mack wanted to win the game, so he didn't care about his impressive stat line. His answer showed great maturity for such a young player, and that bodes well for the rest of the year.
UCLA head coach Mick Cronin noted that the team has been recruiting guys with a similar mindset, and Mack showed that they did a good job with it.
“We believe in recruiting guys that are good guys with character, and they may not end up being your best player, but they help you win games,” Cronin said

UCLA can take the loss and learn from it moving forward. Nobody likes to lose any game, but this is what should be considered a "good loss" for a young team that was facing one of the better squads in the nation.
