UCLA Basketball: Undrafted Former Bruin Has Sharpshooting Summer League Stint
Tyger Campbell opted to enter the 2023 NBA Draft instead of using his final year of eligibility with the UCLA Bruins and he signed a contract with an Orlando Magic squad that hasn't necessarily found their way over the past couple of seasons but boasts a young core with plenty of talent.
My one concern with Campbell joining the Magic was the fact that they already have a number of promising guards that are fighting for playing time of their own. Markelle Fultz, Jalen Suggs and Cole Anthony all have time under their belt already with franchise and the likes of Franz Wagner and Paolo Banchero also need the ball in their hands in order to be effective.
However, Campbell got some limited minutes with Orlando's summer league squad over these past few weeks and when he did get the opportunity to make plays, he was very efficient as he shot 50 percent from three.
"Campbell competed in three games with Orlando, averaging 7.0 points, 1.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists per contest. He averaged 16.8 minutes per game and shot 31.6 percent from the field. Campbell shot 50.0 percent from beyond the 3-point arc, connecting on 4 of 8 long-range attempts. He shot 83.3 percent at the free throw line (5-for-6)."

It's great to see Campbell showcasing his ability to hit shots from deep already and hopefully he is able to show the franchise that he can contribute for them as long as they keep him around. He'll likely see plenty of time in the G-League during his rookie campaign but as long as he's comfortable running the offense and getting points when they need it, he could get a shot on the main roster!
