UCLA Basketball: Where Bruins' Recruiting Class Ranks Among Fellow Pac-12 Teams
The UCLA Bruins have continued to welcome in a number of top prospects over the years and leading into the 2023 season, things are no different. Starting off with Devin Williams who is finishing off a prestigious high school career at Centennial, he will be a nice lob threat in the pick and roll and protect the rim standing at 6'10. He comes from a winning culture seeing that he won multiple national championships at Centennial.
Sebastian Mack will also be an immediate difference-maker as he can play both guard spots and Rivals.com had him ranked as the number 67 player in the nation coming out of high school. He attended Coronado and even though he is only around 6'3, his athleticism and speed will give the Bruins a nice option in the backcourt.
And right alongside him there will likely be a 6'6 shooting guard in IIane Fibleuil that will bring some excellent floor-spacing and shot creation. After that, we also have New York's own Brandon Williams coming out Christ the King high school who will bolster the forward position along with Devin Williams.
All in all, we're looking at about five top prospects who have committed to UCLA along with Lazar Stefanovic who will be transferring in. In an updated 2023 Recruit Pac-12 Basketball Team Rankings, UCLA placed in at number three just behind Oregon and USC.
Experts have also had a lot of good things to say about their process.
"UCLA is also recruiting a potential future NBA lottery pick in Aday Mara who is a 7-foot-3 center from Spain. This recruiting class rather the Bruins get Mara to commit or not, is a very talented group of student-athletes who can contribute right away on the basketball court this season. The UCLA Bruins men’s basketball team is expected to be one of the top teams in the Pac-12 Conference this season. They also have a talented freshman class as well as the return Adem Bona taking his name out of the NBA draft and returning to UCLA for this upcoming season. The Bruins are like last season, still expected to compete for the Pac-12 title and make a significant run in the NCAA Tournament. They have the talent to be a top-15 team in 2023-24. However, they will need to stay healthy and avoid any major upsets if they want to reach their full potential."(Via GoJoe Bruin)
