UCLA Men's Basketball Offers Class of 2026 Guard Brandon McCoy Jr.

One of the top freshmen in the country added the Bruins to his list of suitors after an impressive weekend on the Nike EYBL circuit.

Fresh off a breakout performance in Phoenix, one of Southern California's top prospects has added a blue blood offer.

Class of 2026 guard Brandon McCoy Jr. picked up an offer from UCLA men's basketball, he revealed Monday night on Twitter. The St. John Bosco (CA) prospect just opened up his AAU season with the Arizona Unity, and he showed out in front of the Bruins' coaches at EYBL Session 2 over the weekend.

McCoy has added other offers from Arizona State, Louisville, Oregon and Washington, all of which have come in since April 24.

McCoy knocked down seven 3-pointers for the Unity on Saturday, then he hit six on Sunday en route to 29 points. MADE Hoops named McCoy its Underclassman of the Session, while also including him on its E16 All-Circuit Team.

In his freshman year at St. John Bosco – a pipeline school for UCLA football – McCoy averaged 8.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.6 steals, 1.3 assists and 1.3 blocks per game. The 6-foot-3 guard boasted .510/.417/.778 shooting splits on the season.

None of the major recruiting databases have released concrete rankings or star ratings for the class of 2026, but McCoy is widely expected to be a top-25 prospect and borderline five-star when those do eventually arrive.

UCLA has now offered four players in the class of 2026, with McCoy joining Lynnwood (CA) point guard Jason Crowe Jr., Chatsworth (CA) shooting guard Alijah Arenas and St. Bernard (CA) small forward Tajh Ariza. All four of their offerrees come from Southern California.

The Bruins do not have any commits for 2024 or 2025, meaning the program has a completely blank slate on the recruiting trail moving forward. By the time any of those class of 2026 players reach college, the only familiar faces left on the roster will be the 2023 commits – four-star guard Sebastian Mack, four-star power forward Devin Williams, four-star forward Brandon Williams and four-star shooting guard Ilane Fibleuil, assuming none of them leave early for the NBA Draft.
