UCLA Women's Basketball: Bruins Commit Soars In Top Prep Showcase
The summer is undoubtedly one of the best times of the year for basketball and that might come off strange at first considering that both the NCAA and NBA are in their respective offseasons. However, we cannot forget about the Drew League, multiple Pro-AM leagues and AAU tournaments.
The Nike Nationals recently took place and we saw some of the most talented high school players in the nation battle it out, including some for the last time before they continue their hoops journey at the next level.
We had the pleasure of seeing incoming Bruins guard Avary Cain put on a show in the tournament and look virtually unstoppable.
Have a look for yourself!
Just like she did all throughout her high school career, Cain was able to showcase her ability to put the ball in the basket. She looked very comfortable shooting both off the dribble and off of catches and even though there was a lot going on, she appeared to always be playing at her own pace.
Something that will work to her favor when she kicks off her career at UCLA will be her ability to handle pressure on ball and attack the rim once defenses key in on her. This EYBL mixtape showed her taking advantage of all the space the defense was giving her and when they finally pressed up, she got right to hoop.
UCLA is in no rush to give her ten-plus shots a game with the returners they have on their way back but don't be surprised to see Cain have some crazy scoring outbursts as a freshman... that shooting ability as a southpaw is special!
