UCLA Basketball: Top 25 Junior Prep Prospect Considering A Bruins Future
Top high school guard Jerry Easter II, a four-star recruit at La Lumiere School in La Porte, Indiana, is trying to schedule some college program visits ahead of the start of his junior season in high school.
According to Jamie Shaw of On3, Easter is contemplating a UCLA trip (and, yes, also its other Pac-12 Los Angeles-based arch nemesis).
“I don’t have any official visits set up yet,” Easter revealed. “I’m probably going to start off taking officials to the closer schools... So I might start off with like Ohio State, Michigan State, and Cincinnati, the schools closest to Ohio."
"I’ve been talking with UCLA and USC about official visits, too,” Easter noted. “They have a great program, and they develop high-level players every year. I like what they did with [recently-graduated Bruins point guard] Tyger Campbell. And the weather out there. I’d have to adjust to the time difference, but they’re a really good program I want to go see more about.”
Campbell, a three-time All-Pac-12 selection during his UCLA tenure, actually went to Easter's high school. The 5'11" Campbell went unselected in the 2023 draft, and played with the Orlando Magic's Summer League team. He has yet to latch on with an NBA club on a training camp deal.
Per Shaw, Easter's scoring average of 22.3 points in Nike’s star-studded Peach Invitational Tournament ranked second overall, meaning he can get buckets against even the most prolific adversaries in his current age bracket.
