The Bruins will be well represented at the upcoming Olympic Games

While this summer's Olympics will likely be defined by all of the unprecedented circumstances surrounding them, one thing remains constant.

There will be Bruins galore.

The 2020 Tokyo Olympics were delayed a full year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and even with that extensive health and safety hiatus, there still won't be fans in the stands for this iteration of the Games. That means no UCLA fans, despite the fact that 43 athletes with ties to Westwood will be making the trip to Japan to compete on an international stage.

That number could have been even higher, had Kevin Love not withdrawn with a calf injury following one of Team USA men's basketball's scrimmages in Las Vegas earlier in July. UCLA softball outfielder Aaliyah Jordan was expected to play for Team Mexico as well, but she announced on Twitter she would not be joining the team in Tokyo.

Still, over three dozen UCLA alumni will battle for podium sports over the next few weeks, representing 17 different countries in 18 sports.
