UCLA Softball: Two Bruins Land All-American Nod
Redshirt senior Maya Brady and sophomore Megan Grant earned preseason All-American status by Softball America on Monday.
Brady, the niece of NFL legend Tom Brady, is coming off a career year with the Bruins in 2023. She was a Player of the Year Top 3 Finalist and the Pac-12 Conference Player of the Year.
The outfielder-turned-shortstop recorded a conference-best .448 batting average, .866 slugging percentage, and 33 extra-base hits. She ranked second in the Pac-12 in runs batted in (59) and home runs (18). She also became the fourth Bruin and first since 2013 to record four multi-homer games in a season.
Grant had a stellar freshman year and was an NFCA Freshman of the Year Top 10 Finalist. She ranked second among all freshmen in the country with 58 runs batted in and led all Pac-12 freshmen in RBI, home runs (15), doubles (14) and slugging percentage (.695).
The powerful lefty hit in the lead-off spot in 25 games and hit three home runs from the top of the order. Her 14-game hitting streak was UCLA's longest of the season.
Brady and Grant will lead the Bruins into action with the season debut on Feb. 8 versus Cal State Fullerton at Easton Stadium at 7 p.m. PST.
