Class of 2024 Guard Avary Cain Commits to UCLA Women's Basketball

The Bruins added another five-star recruit to a class that already included Kendall Dudley and Elina Aarnisalo.

Another five-star recruit is coming to Westwood.

Class of 2024 guard Avary Cain has verbally committed to UCLA women's basketball, the prospect announced Thursday on Instagram. The 6-foot-1 Saint Joseph (CA) product was also sitting on offers from USC, Utah, Texas Tech, Texas A&M and Mississippi State.

Cain is the third player to join the Bruins' 2024 recruiting class, following in the footsteps of Sidwell Friends School (DC) wing Kendall Dudley and Finnish guard Elina Aarnisalo.

USC was the first school to host Cain for a visit back in August 2022. She then stopped by Texas Tech, UCLA and Cal in October.

Cain has been a star for Saint Joseph's since her freshman year, when she broke onto the scene by averaging 19.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 3.9 steals per game. After putting up 18.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.4 steals a night her sophomore season, Cain averaged 21.1 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 3.5 steals per game as a junior.

For her career, Cain owns .465/.381/.711 shooting splits.

Cain is a five-star recruit, according to ESPN. In espnW Hoopgurlz's Super 60, Cain is ranked as the No. 5 guard in the country, the No. 5 player in California and the No. 20 overall prospect in her class.

UCLA now has two top-20 commits, with Dudley coming in at No. 15. As an international prospect, Aarnisalo is not ranked by ESPN.

With those three rising stars coming to Westwood, the Bruins could have one of the country's top recruiting classes for the second time in three cycles.

UCLA's 2022 recruiting class was ranked No. 1 by ESPN at the time, highlighted by five-star point guard Kiki Rice, five-star forward Gabriela Jaquez, four-star point guard Londynn Jones and four-star post Christeen Iwuala. Five-star post Lauren Betts, who played her freshman year at Stanford, announced she would be transferring to UCLA on April 18.

Although the Bruins' 2023 class was only made up of four-star post Amanda Muse, coach Cori Close and her staff have gotten back on track with a blockbuster 2024 cycle thus far.

UCLA now joins UConn as one of the only two programs with two five-star class of 2024 commits.
