UCLA Women's Basketball: 2 Bruins Help Team USA Medal In International Competition
One of the most honorable opportunities one could get in organized sports is being able to represent your country. Two of our very own UCLA Bruins in Lauren Betts and Charisma Osborne were able to do just that as they suited for Team USA in the 2023 FIBA Women's AmeriCup recently and made it all the way to the championship game and came home with a silver medal.
Lauren Betts will be entering her first season with the UCLA Bruins after transferring from Stanford University, where she averaged around six points and three rebounds across 33 games in her freshman year.
However, she stepped her game up for Team USA this summer and Bruins fans should be excited.
"Betts was the team's second-leading scorer with 11.4 points per game and USA's second-leading rebounder as she grabbed 10.9 rebounds per contest. The rising sophomore shot 72.7% from the field and had double-doubles in five of her seven appearances. Betts blocked a team-best 2.1 shots per game, totaling 15 rejections in the tournament."

Charisma Osborne will be coming back to UCLA for her fifth season, her final year of eligibility, and will look to continue excellent guard play that has seen average double-digits in points during every campaign she's been a part of at Westwood.
Osborne played a smaller role during her time with Team USA this time around but she put forth a lot of effort on both sides of the floor that wasn't fully reflected in the stat sheet.
"Osborne averaged 5.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and a team-leading 3.0 assists per game as she assumed floor general duties. The Moreno Valley shooting guard started all seven games for USA Basketball in the tournament. Osborne got it done on the defensive end, averaging 0.7 steals and 0.6 blocks per game. The Bruin was fourth-highest on the team in stocks (steals plus blocks)."

We cannot wait to see what these two accomplish together this coming season!
