UCLA Women's Basketball: 3 Impending Bruins Earn Major Prep School Honor
It sounds like UCLA Bruins women's basketball head Cori Close's recruiting skills remain as sharp as ever.
That's because, per a UCLA press statement, a triumvirate of impending Bruins players have made the 2023-24 Jersey Mike's Naismith Girls High School Player of the Year Watch List, a preseason performance projection.
Bruins commits Avary Cain, Kendall Dudley and Zania Socka, all seniors, all made the cut.
Cain, a 6'1" guard at Saint Joseph High School in Orcutt, California, averaged 21.1 points, seven boards, 3.5 steals and 2.8 dimes per bout during the 2022-23 season. A five-star prospect, Cain was ranked as the 20th best prospect among her class last season.
Kendall Dudley, a 6'2" wing out of Sidwell Friends School in Bethesda, Maryland, is a former high school teammate of current standout Bruins guard Kiki Rice. She averaged 9.6 points, eight boards, 4.1 assists and 2.7 swipes per bout last year.
Finally, Dudley's current teammate Zania Socka, a 6'3" forward, is ranked as the 26th-best prospect in her draft class. She, too, has been shortlisted on the 2023-24 Jersey Mike's Naismith Girls High School Player of the Year Watch List.
