UCLA Women's Basketball: Bruins Alum Unpacks Breakout Season For Hometown Team

It was meant to be!

Jordin Canada is someone that fans of the UCLA Bruins always look back in and come up with a number of special moments that represent her time in Westwood. She first entered as a freshman guard that was just looking to facilitate and showed promise as a scorer. However, over her next three years in Los Angeles, she boosted her stats up to about 17 points per game and seven assists per game.

She was named the Pac-12 defensive player of the year in the 2017-2018 season, showcasing her ability to thrive on both sides of the floor and also was named NCAA All-Region on two different occasions and All-Pac-12 three times.

Fast forward to 2023 and Canada is back in the city of Los Angeles, only this time she is suiting up for the Sparks. The 5'6 guard spent her first four seasons with the Seattle Storm and won two championships with them.

Canada then opted to sign with the Sparks in 2022 and she is now enjoying her best season by far with averages of 13 points and six assists. She joined 'Locked On Sparks' to talk about how she has grown in the WNBA and specifically has started to find her voice in LA.

"I understand now that being a vet, I have to use more of my voice," said Canada. "There's no other choice and no other option for me and like I said, I think being here has given me the leadership role to use my voice here and coaches and my teammates have given me that confidence."

We cannot wait to see Canada dominate the rest of the season!
