UCLA Women's Basketball: Bruins Drop in AP Rankings After Loss to Trojans
Everyone knew the battle between the UCLA Bruins and USC Trojans would be exciting. The Bruins were able to secure the first win during the start of conference play for the Pac-12.
The Trojans came back with a vengeance yesterday afternoon, as the Bruins fell to their crosstown rivals 73-65. Head coach Cori Close knew the game would be physical and it was the Trojans who were able to come out with the victory.
We imagine both teams will battle it out to be the best on the West Coast for the remainder of the season. The Bruins may have only one loss to their name, but they have now dropped in the AP rankings because of it.
The Bruins have held the #2 ranked spot for weeks, but last night's loss has resulted in the team dropping three spots.
Despite the Bruins now being ranked #5 in the nation, they still only have one loss. The night belongs to the Trojans, but both teams are now split 1-1 on the season.
This was the final time that the Bruins and Trojans will meet in conference play. Next up is the NCAA tournament, which we imagine both teams will make a deep run in.
The Bruins will have to lick their wounds and return to form when they take on Colorado on January 19.
