UCLA Women's Basketball: Former All-Pac-12 Bruin Earns MVP In Pro League

An alum is putting in work!

Former UCLA Bruins women's basketball two-time Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year Jordin Canada, now playing for the WNBA's Atlanta Dream, has been putting in work at her offseason job, apparently.

Per the Deakin Melbourne Boomers of Australia's WNBL, Canada has been named the MVP of that league for the 2023-24 season!

Following a starry four-year Westwood run from 2014-18 (which culminated in an Elite Eight appearance in the '18 NCAA Tournament), Canada was selected with the fifth overall pick in the 2018 WNBA draft by the Seattle Storm.

She won two titles with Seattle before moving on to her hometown Los Angeles Sparks. Last year, Canada averaged a career-best 13.3 points on .404/.333/.873 shooting splits, six assists, 3.1 rebounds and 2.3 steals, emerging as a finalist for Most Improved Player honors. She was flipped to the Dream earlier this month. The 5'6" point guard has twice been named a WNBA All-Defensive First Teamer, first with the Storm and more recently with LA.

When the WNBA season is done, Canada plays abroad. She has spent past offseason stints with pro clubs in Poland and Turkey before settling on Melbourne, with whom she has played since 2023. In addition to her league MVP honors this season, she also was named to the All-WNBL First Team.
