Your UCLA women’s basketball team has risen to new heights this season behind a stacked roster, and team chemistry. They are ranked second in the nation right now but will be taking on their hardest challenge of the year later today when they face the sixth-ranked UConn Huskies.

The game is scheduled to tip-off at 4:30 p.m. PT and will be played from the Cayman Islands for the Cayman Islands Classic. The Bruins will look to stay undefeated on the year in this contest.

UConn has been the staple of women’s college basketball for as long as anyone can remember, and while they aren’t the same dominant team from years past, they are still very good. However, injuries to the Huskies could pave the way for an advantage for the Bruins in the matchup.

UConn guard Azzi Fudd tore her ACL in her right knee and will miss the remainder of the 2023-2024 season. They are also missing Carolina Ducharme, who is dealing with neck spasms, which could be detrimental for the Huskies against the loaded Bruins.

UCLA will be looking to make some history in the game, as they have never taken down UConn in the seven previous meetings. This team feels different, so maybe the eighth time could do the trick.

“UCLA is seeking its first win against the Huskies in its eighth meeting against the east-coast powerhouse; the Bruins are 0-7 against UConn dating back to 1998. The Bruins and Huskies last met on Dec. 11, 2021, at the Never Forget Tribute Classic at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., with UConn winning 71-61."

We should be in for a great matchup later today, and hopefully, the Bruins can continue their great start to the season. Injuries are never a fun part of the game, but it won't take anything away from the overall competitiveness to win on either side.
