UCLA Women's Basketball: Londynn Jones Has Set Important Bruins Record

She's killing the game for the rising Blue and Gold.

UCLA Bruins women's basketball sophomore guard Londynn Jones' 78 made three-pointers this season represent a new record for output in that metric, the team has announced on its official X/Twitter account:

Jones reached this new mark by powering your Bruins to a 61-41 victory over the Arizona Wildcats in their season finale on Saturday, in scoring a team-most 16 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the floor (4-of-7 from long range). The victory improved UCLA to a 24-5 overall record on the season (13-5 in the Pac-12).

On the year, the 5'4" Riverside product is averaging 12.7 points on .392/.390/.814 shooting splits, two assists, 1.8 rebounds, and 0.2 blocks a night, all career highs in an expanded role, across 27.6 minutes per bout. She started 24 of UCLA's 29 regular season bouts this season. The 2023 Pac-12 All-Freshman honoree's 39% three-point conversion rate arrives on a prolific 6.9 triple tries a night.

Assuming health, it stands to reason the sophomore star could have even better output from long range next year. But first, there's the small matter of this month's Pac-12 Tournament and NCAA Tournament. In March Madness, UCLA seems likely to obtain a top seed in the Big Dance, and to stand a pretty good chance of bettering its Sweet Sixteen finish from 2023.
