UCLA Women's Basketball Offers Class of 2026 PG Maddyn Greenway
The Bruins have offered yet another high school freshman.
UCLA women's basketball offered class of 2026 point guard Maddyn Greenway, the Providence Academy (MN) prospect revealed Monday on Twitter. Greenway is the daughter of Chad Greenway, who went to Iowa and played 11 seasons as a linebacker with the Minnesota Vikings.
Minnesota offered Maddyn Greenway before her eight grade season tipped off, while Creighton, Iowa, Michigan, Iowa State, Wisconsin, South Dakota State and Maryland have offered her since.
Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan and North Carolina have all hosted Greenway for visits. She has also camped at Iowa and Minnesota.
Greenway became Providence Academy's all-time leading scorer back on Jan. 31, and she is averaging 24.3 points per game for her career. So far this season, Greenway is averaging 29.9 points per game while leading her team to a 16-2 record.
In addition to playing soccer and running track, the 5-foot-8 Greenway also suits up for North Tartan on the Nike EYBL circuit for her AAU basketball. North Tartan previously produced former Minnesota Golden Gophers guard Rachel Banham, who went No. 4 overall to the Connecticut Sun in the 2016 WNBA Draft after breaking the Big Ten's all-time scoring record.
UCLA has now sent offers out to four class of 2026 prospects, with three coming since the start of 2023. The Bruins sent wing Devin Cosgriff an offer on May 23 of last year, while small forward Brihanna Crittendon got her offer on Jan. 5 and forward/center Olivia Vukosa got hers on Jan. 9.
Cosgriff, Crittendon and Vukosa are all on espnW's HoopGurlz Recruiting Rankings Watch List, which compiles the top 25 girls basketball players in the class of 2026. Greenway is not on that list, but her dominance in the Midwest could help her earn a spot when the table is reset later this year.
UCLA only has one signee for its 2023 recruiting class – four-star post player Amanda Muse – and it does not have a commit for 2024 or 2025 at the moment. The Bruins are not alone in that position, considering how early it is in those cycles, but coach Cori Close and her staff are going to need to round out the future roster around the star-studded 2022 class sooner rather than later.
