Oregon State University center Raegan Beers took an elbow to the face from UCLA Bruins guard Kiki Rice early in the second quarter on Friday night that left her bloodied and sobbing on the baseline.

Beers immediately left the game with help from trainers while trying to hold towels on her face.

Both teams fought whistles early and often with 19 personal fouls combined, 12 in the second quarter.

Oregon State University head coach Scott Rueck joined the broadcast before going into the locker room at the half with his team trailing 34-32 and described the second quarter as bizarre.

"The energy is insane. This is an incredible crowd," said Rueck. "I thought we were tight to start the game and settled in towards the end of the first quarters and then the second quarter was about the most bizarre quarter you could possibly imagine. I don't know what that was. Here's to better things in the second half."

He did not provide an update on Beers before the interview ended.

The reigning Pac-12 Player of the Week had two points before she was helped to the locker room.

Rice was charged with a technical foul for the elbow.
