UCLA Women's Basketball: USC Matchup At Pauley Pavilion Sells Out
When your 11-0 UCLA Bruins women's basketball program hosts its dreaded crosstown nemesis, the 10-0 USC Trojans, on Saturday at Pauley Pavilion, the action between the Pac-12 adversaries will be viewed by a sold-out crowd, the Bruins' official Twitter/X account has announced.
Pauley is a robust, 13,800-seat venue. The two clubs' annual rivalry game will be a high-stakes matchup between not just two of the Pac-12's best programs, but two of the nation's. The Bruins are ranked as the No. 2 college team in the land, while the Trojans register as No. 6, per the latest Associated Press poll.
UCLA will bring a lot of firepower to the matchup. The Bruins are currently led by sophomore center Lauren Betts, a 6'7" transfer out of Stanford, who's the single-most efficient scorer in the game (she makes 77.1% of her field goal tries a night). Across her 11 bouts for the Bruins, Betts is averaging 16.9 points, 9.2 rebounds, two blocks and 0.8 assists.
The Trojans' top scorer is also the second-most prolific scorer in college hoops, 6'2" freshman wing JuJu Watkins. Watkins is averaging 26.8 points on .494/.469/.750 shooting splits, along with 6.9 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 2.6 steals and 1.4 blocks.
