Utah guard Jenna Johnson left the game against the UCLA Bruins with under four minutes to play in the first quarter with towels held to her head.

She returned late in the third quarter after having a two-inch gash sewn up. The number of stitches used was not confirmed during the broadcast.

Johnson, a junior, went up for a rebound and UCLA's Christeen Iwoula elbow inadvertently knocked her in the side of the head.

She immediately grabbed the right side of her head.

Sideline reporter Holly Rowe reported that Johnson has a good-sized cut on her head and has a decent amount of blood on her jersey, arms, and leg.

Utah head coach Lynne Roberts joined Rowe before the start of the second quarter.

"It's huge. She's kind of our glue player and best defender. I think she's getting stitches right now in her head so we'll see if she can come back. Hopefully, she can. There's no one tougher than her so if anyone can do it, she can."

Johnson was 0-for-1 from the floor with two rebounds in the six minutes she played.

The 6-foot-2 forward entered Thursday night's game averaging 10.3 points per game and was talked with guarding UCLA's 6-foot-7 Lauren Betts.
