Reaction: UConn Lands Four-Star Penn State Quarterback
A social media storm occurred on Tuesday, as former Penn State quarterback Ta’Quan Roberson announced that he would be transferring to UConn on Twitter.
The four-star prospect was a sought after commodity with numerous offers on the table coming out of DePaul Catholic High School. In the end, he determined that Storrs would be the best fit for him to continue his football career. This has been the biggest recruiting win for new head coach Jim L. Mora to date.
It has been well-documented that the Huskies staff recently visited the Garden State and informed the high school football coaches that New Jersey would be treated like its home state of Connecticut. Running backs coach EJ Barthel has developed a legendary reputation for recruiting players from his home state.
In three games this past season, Roberson completed 11-of-28 passes for 85 yards and one touchdown in spot duty for the Nittany Lions. Below is a glimpse of some of the exciting plays to come. You can see the laser-like arm strength Roberson possesses, with a simple flick of the wrist he makes the completion while rolling out off of playaction.
The dual-threat signal-caller hails from Wayne, New Jersey, the same hometown as recent UConn graduate Ryan Van Demark. According to the school’s official roster on their website, Roberson would be the sixth member of the UConn football team to hail from the state.
Leave it to residential Huskies fan Marc D’Amelio to remind us what we knew all along!
