Field Hockey Adds Three Student-Athletes

The UConn field hockey team has announced the addition of three student-athletes to the 2022 roster. Frances Carstens (Stanford University/Western Cape, South Africa), Jasmijn Damman (Emmeloord, Netherlands) and Juana Garcia (Buenos Aires, Argentina).

STORRS, Conn. –  Carstens joins the Huskies as a graduate transfer from Stanford University. The co-captain played in 72 career matches with the Cardinal and ranked second on the Cardinal squad in points during the 2020 season (14). She totaled 12 goals and 13 assists during her career in Palo Alto, Calif. She was nominated for the prestigious Cardinal Career Award, given to student-athletes that best embodies the ideals of being a Stanford student-athlete on and off the field. The South African played for the u21, u18 and u17 South Africa national teams.

Garcia follows Sophia Ugo as the next Argentinian to join the UConn program. Played for the high school team in the Ireland Cup and captured MVP tournament honors twice. Participated with the U14 team in 2017 Argentinian Tournament and helped her team win the tournament. Represented her province (CABA) with Italiano's team in the 2019 Argentinian Tournament. Won the Metropolitan Buenos Aires Tournament in 2019 and 2021.

Damman is a midfielder from the Netherlands.
