  • UConn heads down to the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport for the 2022 Connecticut Ice Festival pitting Connecticut's four Division I teams against each other for state bragging rights. The Huskies will open the tournament on Saturday afternoon taking on the Yale Bulldogs at 3:30 pm. Defending CT Ice Champion Sacred Heart takes on No. 2 nationally ranked Quinnipiac in the night cap. Sunday's consolation game is at 1 pm with the winners facing off for the CT Ice trophy at 4:30 pm. All four games this weekend will be televised live on SNY.
  • In the inaugural Connecticut Ice Festival in 2019-20, the Huskies lost their opening game to Quinnipaic, 3-2, and then dropped the consolation game to Yale by an identical 3-2 score. The event two seasons ago marked the last time UConn played at the Bridgeport arena and the Huskies are 5-6-1 all-time when playing at Webster Bank Arena.
  • The Huskies are 1-4-0 under head coach Mike Cavanaugh against the Yale Bulldogs. UConn is 1-5-0 against Quinnipiac during Coach Cavanaugh's tenure having lost five-straight in the series. The Huskies and Pioneers met in the season opener back in October, a 6-3 win at the XL Center that ended a seven-game winless streak (0-6-1) against SHU. UConn is 3-7-2 against Sacred Heart under Coach Cavanaugh.
  • Under head coach Mike Cavanaugh, the Huskies are 13-14-4 against teams from the ECAC. UConn is 2-1-0
  • This season with a win at Dartmouth and a home win over Colgate and a loss on the road at Harvard. Since leaving Atlantic Hockey and joining Hockey East in 2014-15, the Huskies are 4-8-1 against teams from their old league.
  • The Huskies come into this weekend's tournament winners of two-straight after Tuesday night's 3-2 win at home over No. 19 ranked Merrimack. UConn scored three goals in a span of 1:45 in the third period as senior Jonny Evans capped off the three-goal rally with what proved to be the game-winner, his second-straight game with a goal. Senior Jachym Kondelik scored his seventh goal on the season and junior Roman Kinal scored his second.
  • The Huskies need to fend off a late surge by the Warriors that included killing off a power play with 1:45 left in the third and Merrimack with an empty net and 6-on-4. Grad student Darion Hanson made three of his 18 saves in that final stretch and the Huskies held on for the 3-2 win.
  • Senior Jachym Kondelik and sophomore Ryan Tverberg share the team lead in scoring, both with 18 points on the season. Both are also candidates for the 2022 Hobey Baker Award. Fan voting is open now and will run through March 6. Fans can vote daily by visiting HobeyBaker.com/vote.
  • Kondelik has seven goals and 11 assists and is a +6 on the year. He leads the team with four power play goals. He is tied for 14th in Hockey East in scoring and his four power play goals is tied for fourth.
  • Kondelik is the Huskies leading active career point leader at 89 points (23g/66a). He has moved up to 10th on the Huskies Division I career points list. His 66 career assists is tied for third on the Division I all-time list, five away from tying the school record (71 - Sean Ambrosie 2009-13).
  • Tverberg has a team-best nine goals with nine assists on the year. He is a +7 on the season with five multi-point games and had a five-game goal scoring streak as well. He is tied for 14th in Hockey East in scoring and his nine goals is tied for 10th.
  • UConn grad student goaltender Darion Hanson, who transferred in this season from Union, and has started 20 of the 21 games. On the season, he owns a 2.50 goals against average and a .915 save percentage, ninth and seventh among league leaders in both categories. He has played the fifth most minutes in Hockey East and has a 537 saves on the season, fifth best. He has been named to the 2022 Mike Richter Award watch list.
