MGOLF: Dallahan, Lopez Lead UConn at Rutherford Intercollegiate
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Sophomore (Simsbury, Conn.) and freshman (Winchester, Mass.) led the UConn men's golf team as the Huskies completed regular-season competition at the Rutherford Intercollegiate on Sunday, held at the Penn State Blue Course.
Dallahan and Lopez each shot an 11-over, 224, to finish as part of a tie for 42nd place in the 78-player field. Dallahan had a 74-75-75=224, while Lopez was at 76-73-75=224.
Also for the Huskies, sophomores (Topsham, Me.) and (Tampa, Fla.) were part of a deadlock at 51st place with a 13-over, 75-72-79=226 and a 13-over, 77-73-76=226, respectively. Senior (Rutland, Vt.) finished in a tie for 58th place with a 15-over, 75-73-80=228.
As a team, UConn was tie for 10th place in the 14-team field with an aggregate, 44-over, 300-291-305=896. Host school Penn State won the event with a 12-over, 864.
UConn will have one week off before competing for the BIG EAST Conference championship on April 25-27 at the Calloway Gardens Mountain View Course in Pine Mountain, Ga. The Huskies enter the event as the defending BIG EAST champions.
