Women’s Lacrosse: Sydney Watson Named Preseason All-American
STORRS, Conn. - With the 2021 season just two months away, senior Sydney Watson of the UConn women's lacrosse was named a USA Lacrosse Magazine's Division I Women's Preseason First Team All-American as well as the Preseason Midfielder of the Year.
A USA Lacrosse Magazine First Team All-American a season ago, and the program's first IWLCA First Team All-American, Watson is coming off a standout season in which she led the BIG EAST in goals (56) and draw controls (136). Watson scored in all 17 games last spring and tallied multi-point efforts in all but one contest. Additionally, she was the first Husky in program history to win more than 100 draw controls in a season and owns the career record (359) by 192 draws.
Watson was one of four midfielders and one of 13 student-athletes who earned a spot on the first team. The Huskies will start the 2022 season on Feb. 16 at Fairfield.
