Jarin Stevenson sets commitment date
Jarin Stevenson, a four-star prospect in the class of 2024, has been a longtime target for North Carolina. He has frequented campus often as a resident of nearby Pittsboro and become a coveted piece for the Tar Heels' roster.
After announcing his final three of North Carolina, Virginia, and Alabama last week, Stevenson has set a commitment date.
According to Travis Branham of 247Sports, the 6-foot-10 forward will announce his decision on Wednesday.
Stevenson's announcement has a layer of implications for North Carolina, who currently possesses three open scholarships for the 2023-2024 campaign and the No. 1 ranked recruiting class for 2024.
There has been some speculation that a reclassification is possible, but he has yet to indicate what his plans for the 2023-2024 season are.
If he picks the Tar Heels and enrolls early, he will add to the two-man recruiting class of Elliott Cadeau and Zayden High, while giving North Carolina one of the deepest front courts in the country.
Should the No. 22 overall recruit commit to Hubert Davis and company and remain in high school, he would give the Tar Heels perhaps their most anticipated class in recent memory.
A specific time and/or place has yet to be announced for his commitment, but it appears the recruitment of Jarin Stevenson is winding down.
Can Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball staff successfully wrap up the recruitment of the long time coveted prospect?
