Former UNC forward Puff Johnson has committed to Penn State, first reported by Joe Tipton at On3.

Johnson entered the transfer portal on March 22 after three seasons with the Tar Heels.

During his time in Chapel Hill, he came off the bench, averaging 3.1 points and 1.9 rebounds on 41.7 percent shooting. Johnson played an important role in the Tar Heels' 2022 tournament run, scoring 11 points and grabbing six rebounds in the national title loss to Kansas.

Johnson dealt with numerous injuries in his career, including a hip flexor issue and a sprained right ankle that forced him to miss the first 15 games of his sophomore year. He missed time in the 2022-23 season due to right knee soreness and a right ankle injury.

The Moon Township, Pennsylvania native is the brother of former UNC standout and national champion Cam Johnson. He'll return closer to his hometown to join Mike Rhoades' Nittany Lions, who made it to the round of 32 in the 2023 NCAA Tournament.

How will Johnson do at his new home?
