On Friday night, roughly 30 minutes before the UNC basketball squad's lone exhibition game this year, it became evident that graduate forward Jae'lyn Withers (a transfer from Louisville) and sophomore guard Seth Trimble would be out of commission.

After all, neither was in uniform for the Tar Heels' matchup against the St. Augustine's Falcons at 7:30 p.m. ET Friday in the Dean E. Smith Center.

A few minutes before tipoff, the Carolina Basketball Stats & Info account confirmed that Trimble (lower-body injury) and Withers (upper-body injury) are not playing in what is UNC's lone exhibition outing before its season opener against Radford on Nov. 6.

For now, there are no further details on the extent of their injuries.

As the UNC basketball program's official account revealed on social media, third-year head coach Hubert Davis and his staff are rolling out the following three-guard veteran starting lineup against the Falcons:

  • Senior guard RJ Davis
  • Graduate guard Paxson Wojcik
  • Graduate guard Cormac Ryan
  • Junior forward Harrison Ingram
  • Graduate center Armando Bacot

The Tar Heels, No. 19 in the preseason AP Top 25, are looking to bounce back from the program's 2022-23 campaign that saw UNC begin the season at No. 1 in the country only to fall short of an NCAA Tournament invite.
