UNC Basketball Visit Now 'In the Works' for Five-Star Guard
Huntington Prep (W.Va.) five-star shooting guard Darryn Peterson, No. 2 overall on the 247Sports 2025 Composite, is planning a trip to Chapel Hill to check out the UNC basketball program, MADE Hoops' Travis Graf reported on Friday.

Peterson, who received an offer from the Tar Heels in April, will also visit Kentucky, Ohio State, and Kansas. Of the four visits, only two have locked-in dates: to Kentucky on Oct. 14 and Ohio State on Oct. 21.
But Graf noted that the scheduling for the other two is "in the works." Presumably, they'll also take place sometime this fall.
The Kentucky and Ohio State trips will be unofficial visits, per Graf, while it's unclear if that'll be the designation for his tours of bluebloods UNC and Kansas.
Either way, the Tar Heels' anticipated appearance on Peterson's calendar suggests that UNC basketball head coach Hubert Davis and his gang are bonafide contenders for the 6-foot-5, 195-pound efficient bucket-getter and athletic playmaker.
"Coach Davis has been to a few of my games," the 16-year-old Peterson told On3's Jamie Shaw in July. "The fact he comes to watch me where there are all kinds of other good players means a lot. That's big that he's picking my game to come to watch...
"They're guard-dominant. They give their guards freedom and let them get off and play how they want to play. That is big for me."
Six more high school juniors are on the Tar Heels' wishlist.
All but one of them rank among the top 10 in the class. The exception is five-star combo guard Cayden Boozer (No. 19), the son of Duke basketball legend Carlos Boozer and twin brother to the top-ranked 2025 prep and fellow UNC target in five-star power forward Cameron Boozer.
And on that note, it's worth pointing out that Darryn Peterson and Cayden Boozer are thus far the only two 2025 guards boasting UNC basketball offers.
