ESPN's "College GameDay" will open the 2023-24 season in the Carolinas.

Per the show's social media, "College GameDay" will be in Charlotte, North Carolina to feature the anticipated week one match up between UNC and South Carolina on September 2. The game will be played at Bank of America Stadium.

The last time "College GameDay" went to a UNC football game was in 2010 when the Tar Heels opened the season against LSU in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game in Atlanta.

This year's season opener will feature two of the nation's best quarterbacks, most notably the Tar Heels' Drake Maye, who will be on Heisman watch and in the mix for the top quarterback taken in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Along with head coach Mack Brown's revival of the UNC football program, South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer has brought the Gamecocks back on the radar. Last season, South Carolina went 8-5 with wins over No. 13 Kentucky, No. 5 Tennessee, and No. 7 Clemson.

In their last meeting, the Gamecocks beat the Tar Heels 38-21 in the 2021 Duke's Mayo Bowl also held in Charlotte.

What will be the result of this year's meeting of the Carolinas?
