Like Shipp, Taylor, who ranks No. 362 overall and No. 12 in the state on the 247Sports 2024 Composite, inked his national letter of intent on Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period. And the UNC football social media team announced his signing with the following posted videos:
According to the scouting report on Alex Taylor from 247Sports national recruiting analyst Brian Dohn, the 6-foot-2, 175-pound has the skills and athleticism to potentially hear his name at the NFL Draft down the road:
"A high-level receiver who consistently makes plays, and makes difficult catches on a routine basis...A very good route runner with excellent ball-tracking skills. During multiple in-person evaluations, Taylor impressed with his body control and reliable hands. Possesses field awareness and has body control and reliable hands to make plays near the boundary and toe tap to keep inbounds.
"Strong route runner who sets up defensive backs and can get inside for slant. Difficult to jam because of short space quickness. Uses body well to shield defenders. Excels in one-on-one situations and proficient at winning 50-50 balls...Has NFL draft potential."
Taylor committed to the Tar Heels over Clemson and others in July. Then, he caught 63 passes for 1,067 yards and 14 touchdowns as a senior at Grimsley in Greensboro.
He'll enroll early in January.
