North Carolina gains commitment from 2024 four-star
When 2024 four-star cornerback Zion Ferguson visited Chapel Hill this weekend, he was committed to Brian Kelly and LSU.
On Sunday, that was no longer the case, as Ferguson flipped his commitment to North Carolina, becoming the highest rated recruit in the 2024 class.
He took to social media to announce the decision just hours after decommitting from the SEC program.
Ferguson is a native of Gainesville, Georgia and is ranked as the 33rd best cornerback in his class. He sits at No. 305 overall and No. 42 in the state of Georgia.
He spent last season at powerhouse Grayson High School before transferring to Gainesville in the spring. In 11 games with Grayson in 2022, he recorded 38 total tackles and finished with four interceptions.
With Ferguson's pledge to the Tar Heels, they now possess 20 commitments in the 2024 class. Ferguson is one of two four-star recruits and helps North Carolina sit at No. 15 overall and second in the ACC.
He becomes just the second defensive back commitment for 2024, joining three-star safety Jaiden Patterson.
Mack Brown and the UNC football staff have been on a recruiting tear in the month of June.
With Ferguson's commitment as a major domino to fall in favor of North Carolina, will they continue their impressive stretch on the recruiting trail?
