Over the month of June and into July, it seems to be almost an every day occurrence that North Carolina earns a commitment from a coveted recruit.

That continued on Friday, as 2024 three-star defensive back Jalon Thompson committed to the Tar Heels. Thompson announced his decision on Instagram Live, choosing North Carolina over the likes of UCF and Pittsburgh.

The rising senior is ranked as the No. 63-best safety in his class and is rated the No. 640 overall recruit.

A native of Orlando, Florida, he competes for Olympia High School. In nine games with the Titans in 2022, Thompson recorded 17 total tackles and two interceptions.

Thompson took an official visit to Chapel Hill beginning on June 9 after visiting hometown program UCF a week prior.

With the commitment, the Tar Heels now sit at 22 pledges in the class of 2024. Thompson becomes the third safety and fourth defensive back for the Tar Heels in this cycle.

North Carolina currently holds the No. 18 overall class in the country and has the fourth-best in the ACC.

Will the Tar Heels continue their recruiting hot stretch in July after an impressive June?
